Many of you have heard the story of Adnan Syed…

In 1999, Syed was arrested for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Upon Syed’s arrest, his school-mate, Asia McClain reached out to Syed via letter and visited his family with seemingly insignificant information concerning a portion of his whereabouts on the day of Lee’s disappearance. Despite her attempts, Asia’s information remained uninvestigated by his attorney. As a result, Syed was convicted of  murder and sent to prison, where he has remained for almost two decades.

In later years, Syed’s attorney was disbarred due to numerous health problems and dies as a result of health complications in 2004. Over a decade after Lee’s murder, This American Life’s journalist Sarah Koenig investigated the case. Sarah tracked down Asia McClain for a recorded interview and that interview was highlighted within the hugely successful podcast Serial. With over 180 million downloads the Serial podcast continues to become an international internet phenomenon and is the first podcast in history to win a Peabody Award.

Determined to set the record straight and the truth free, McClain reached out to Syed’s new defense team and on November 6, 2015, the court ordered a new preceding be conducted with the hopes of determining whether Syed was deserving of a new trial.

In February of 2016, Asia was given the opportunity to testify in open court. It has been said that she “absolutely “KILLED IT” on the stand”. In fact, many have said, that was the day she became the key alibi witness that she was meant to be. The Serial Alibi.

Now, in Confessions of a Serial Alibi, Asia McClain tells the full story of her experience.

If you enjoyed listening to the Serial Podcast then you will also enjoy this book! Within these pages is the other perspective of the Adnan Syed alibi story. Many of you have heard the name Asia McClain, but you haven’t heard her story. What happened when Sarah Koenig first contacted her? How did her voice come to be featured in the podcast? What did Serial miss? What does she remember about that day in the library? All this and more can be found within the pages of Confessions of a Serial Alibi.
